8. ARLBERG CLASSIC Car Rally
Vintage car fascination around Lech in fantastic scenery
Top-class participants – including almost 40 pre-war veteran cars – impressed both public and media during the „Arlberg Classic 2016“. The high demands of a historic car rally amidst the magnificent mountain scenery with a very special and individual atmosphere will be the focus of the ARLBERG CLASSIC Car Rally 2017. The entire route will be a bit shorter than in previous years and some of the climbs will be eliminated
The Thursday prologue and start of the rally will take us through legendary Lech canyon. A short detour to the forest Bregenzer Wald will get us into the mood for the coming days. Back in Lech we will spend a traditional evening in the rustic alpine Rud hut high up in the Lech Alps before we take off for the real stretch on Friday.
The traditional Tyrolean loop takes us via the valley of River Lech and the mountain pass Hahntenjoch to the valley of River Inn. Known sections are expanded and we will get to drive new sections through spectacular alpine country and fantastic scenery. At our interim stop in Lech our participants are rewarded with the Lech rally party at the town square “Rüfiplatz”. Get together and party at Rüfiplatz with guests and spectators for interesting “petrol talks”.
This route takes us across the valley of river Lech to lakes and castles, following the trails of King Ludwig. The route mainly corresponds to the one of 2016, however, we will offer some news. Our surprise for you: a new concept at stops. After three eventful driving days, we come back early to Lech. This allows our participants to get ready for the gala night in time.
We would like to point out that the entire route is considerably easier for pre-war cars than in the past. Some ascents and descents have been eliminated and the total distance has been reduced to under 600 km.
Back to the proven.
The selection of participants is reduced to approximately 110 teams; we take into consideration the variety of makes and models (if possible please indicate alternative vehicles on the entry form). Automobiles up to and including year 1975 may participate. Parts of the rally with uphill and downhill sections up to 14% require sufficient engine power, effective brakes and good steering skills.
In order to improve chances for teams with pre-war vehicles that are harder to drive, we apply a „coefficient for year of construction“ of 0.90 in 2015. Further, we continue with the regulation that mechanical clocks only are allowed for the special stages.
The rally covers approximately 600 kilometers of breathtaking and partly new sections with about 20 special stages. We put high emphasis on a relaxed atmosphere from start to finish according to our motto: „Enjoy a ride through the spectacular Alps“.
Deadline for entry is March 31, 2017. The entry fee amounts to € 1.950,-
